In the beginning there were spices, roots, flowers; grown since antiquity. In fact cherished by Vasco de Gama after he landed on the Malabar coast...Malabar is one of the most important sources for this high quality essences and oils. The Mogols arrived in the 16th Century bringing new perfume techniques like the Attar and distilling flowers in a Sandalwood base. This is used in religious ceremonies even today.

For Indians, the body and the mind are one using ointments, perfumes, hair products which are part of the art of daily living searching for beauty and health at the same time.
